So - what did Shirley & Sharon think when they first laid eyes on this month's CLUB Scrappit?
Sharon - This month was an absolute pleasure for me!! If I ever had to name my favourite companies then I would definitely have to say that Basic Grey was one of them!! This time around the designs are even prettier if that’s at all possible and very easy to play with!! Me? I began with a mini book that I created after receiving this beautiful email about what love meant in the eyes of a child. I printed off the lot and used the quotes to make my album.
Shirley - Knowing in advance what this months CLUB Scrappit was going to feature, I was eagerly awaiting for it to arrive - what's not to love about Basic Grey BUT I must admit when I saw it in real life, I was even more impressed. The designs are very soft & delicate and the colours co complimentary . . . I must admit though my favourites were those that I used on my 'Cancerian' page - I just love the blue & green combination!
So - now that you've heard their thoughts on the pack . . . let's see what they created with it!

I began by covering all the chipboard pages in the album. To make things simple I only adhered the quotes on the right hand pages and created mini embellishment clusters on the left and to make it even simpler each cluster was very similar!! To finish off I tied strands of ribbon to the binding rings and threaded some flowers onto some of the ribbon strands.

Like Sharon, I chose to create a 'Love' Mini Album too! Mine measures 6 inches square and I bound it together with my 'Bind-It-All' and decorated the wires with knotted ribbon lengths. To add a little more depth to the 'Love' word sticker, I firstly adhered it to white cardstock, cut it out - leaving a thin border of white on all sides, and then adhered it to my mini album using foam mounting tape!

For pretty much all of my pages this month I took my inspiration directly from the patterned paper. The papers are so pretty with their swirls and vines that it was much easier to go with the flow plus I love cutting out little bits and re-piecing them together.
With 'Love XOXO' I was really inspired by the circular patterned paper and wanted to play around with shapes. I began by cutting out a huge circle and adhering it to a matted piece of patterned paper. Not completely happy with the effect I then tore out the centre of each of the 3 layers of the circle to get a ragged edge within the circle. I finished off by embellishing with some of the stickers.

Like I mentioned earlier, I really love a blue & green colour combination, and having had this little 'Cancer Crab' motif for some time to create my Star Sign page, I knew these pattern papers would be perfect!
I chosen to paint the scroll and Grungeboard 'C' with turquoise acrylic paint and then complimented the colours with a little hand stitching along the horizontal bands of pattern paper in the same colour as well!
I searched online for a good definition of my Star Sign and found this one at http://www.astrologycom.com

Well this one is all me and my messiest and my favourite part of scrapbooking!! I chose to hand cut a rough scalloped edge on one piece of patterned paper and stitching it down to another. To complete I hand cut all the flowers and vines from the paper to decorate.

I just love pattern papers with floral & scroll designs such as these that enable me to get busy with my scissors (or my craft knife in those more fiddly areas) and cut out the pieces to make my own designs!
I chose to use foam mounting tape on some of the flower & scroll sections too, so that when the page is viewed in real life, some of the flowers have a more 3-Dimensional view.

Once again another hand cut page but time I decided to go with a fantasy feel and hand cut different shapes to build the image I wanted. If you really like this effect and would like to have a try then why not enlarge and print off the sketch to use as a template or better yet take out your scissors and have a play!

To give stickers a little more visual depth on your scrapbooking pages or cards, why not try sticking them on chipboard first, cut them out (carefully with a craft knife) sand the edges and viola! You own chipboard accents!
On this card the two smaller flowers at the bottom have been turned into chipboard accents and applied over the top of the larger floral sticker! I've then dotted 4 of the smaller flowers I cut from the pattern paper onto the card using foam mounting tape - again, to create the perception of depth!

Alright I admit that not every piece of paper wants to be cut up and this one was definitely one of those – I just could bear cutting up the pretty pattern!! This page came together really quickly and easily but I have to admit that I did struggle with it for awhile!! I didn’t know how to finish off the journaling box and it looked too plain to me that is till I grabbed the waste left over from the sticker strip I used. The dots added that perfect little extra to border the box and highlight its edges.

Once again I couldn't resist cutting out some of the elements from this pattern paper and then assembling them back together in my own design - don't be afraid to cut some sections away and disgard (or use on another project) if they don't allow the pieces to fit the way you want.

Well I finally pulled out my Cricut design studio and I have to say I loved using it!! The shape I wanted to cut was meant to be a rectangle but with the studio software I was able to stretch the shape and cut out a square shape – ingenious really and something I certainly intend to play with more!! I also used some of the fozz felt to create cutsy photo corners by cutting out the bits I wanted from the felt then re-attaching them to create the corners the way I wanted them to be – it was a bit time consuming but worth it in the end!

This little diary (belonging to a girlfriend) began its' life bright red in colour . . . see what a little pattern paper and a few embellishments can change it into . . . I know which one I'd prefer to be carrying around!

Back to the circles! This is a really simple page to create, I just cut heaps of circles using a circle cutter and then cut them up and re-pieced them together with glue and my trusty sewing machine!

As you might already know, I'm a true believer in trying to use up my scraps or leftover pattern paper and cardstock by making cards - BUT - decorating small notebooks or journals is another great idea too!
I simply picked up this cute little notebook in Safeway and with a little leftover pattern paper, some stickers, a little hand stitching (of course), some blossoms and a few brads, it has now taken on a completely different look - what a great gift idea!

The cherub paper I used for this page was yet another of those papers I just couldn’t bear to cut up so I chose to use it in blocks.
To re-create my page:
1. Start with the blue background paper. Next, trim off the bottom packaging strip from the cherub paper and tear off a strip from either side of the paper. Note that if you tear towards you then you will get that white core section showing while if you tear away from yourself you won’t. Adhere each to the left and the right side of your background.
2. Cut a strip of yellow card to adhere down the left section of you page. I cut mine to about 1 ½ cm wide. Attach the zig zag border down the centre of this strip.
3. Next, ink the edges of the scalloped border sticker and adhere to the right side panel.
4. Cut out a photo mat to be adhered to the centre of the blue background block. My photo was a 5x7 inch photo so I cut a mat that measured 5 ½ x 7 ½ inches. Adhere both the matt and the photo.
5. Paint the chipboard swirl with a base colour (I chose a blue similar to the background). Next add either a coat of pink crackle paint or alternatively dry brush over the base colour with a pale pink paint.
6. Finally, I cut some of the left over yellow card into strips and attached them to the right side panel to journal on.

I decided to keep the use of pattern paper on this page to a minimum so that the border stickers would be more emphasised. To add a little visual interest, I chose to hand stitch a border along the border stickers and I used an embroidery thread that complimented them as well.
I took the 'Fozz Felt' and carefully cut the flowers apart into smaller groups which I then scattered across the page. Having them already self-adhesive, once they were cut apart, they were very quick to attach to the page and then I simply added a brad centre here and there for a little visual interest too!

With my scraps I made a few cards to send out for birthdays during the year!

As I'd described a little earlier, I've once again turned some simple heart stickers into chipboard accents on this cute little card. I then just added a little bling to each heart which adds a lovely highlight without the need for too much more . . . keeping things simple sometimes can give wonderful results!
