So - what did Shirley & Sharon think when they first laid eyes on this month's CLUB Scrappit?
Sharon - This has got to be just about the prettiest papers I’ve seen in awhile but also the hardest for me to use since I usually prefer working with muted colours. That of course doesn’t mean I won’t accept the challenge – and I’m really glad I did because I love the results!!
Shirley - I just loved the soft muted tones of these gorgeous pattern papers but I must admit my first inital thought was to go and find some baby photos to use with them - however, as you will see . . . I didn't continue with that thought at all once I made a start! What I liked most about the papers was how everything in the pack toned together perfectly - it certainly made for easy scrapbooking!
So - now that you've heard their thoughts on the pack . . . let's see what they created with it!

SHIRLEY's TIP: I dediced to use some of the rubons to frame my two photos and unify them as a whole. I painted some brads from my stash as well as the gorgeous scrolls (which I had previously cut into two pieces)
As my journaling is hidden on this page, I decided to add a little hand stitched corner trim to two opposite corners as a finishing touch too!

SHARON's TIP: All the embellishments in this kit just seemed to be begging for me to make a mini friendship quote book. The rub-ons made perfect additions to my book and of course a fantastic title for the cover!!
I used chipboard and my bind-it-all to create the book, and just simple strips of patterned paper throughout to add simple decorations to the pages. To finish off, I doodled a simple scroll design across the top of the pages – winding through from the front cover to the back.
I’ve left my book blank as well, for a close friend to add her favourite quotes – especially since I made it for her!!

SHIRLEY's TIP: Again, I couldn't resist adding some hidden journaling to this one (behind the enlarged photo), so I decided to scatter a few of the rubon words here and there inbetween the inked chipboard flowers.
To create an eye-catching scroll design, try putting 2 or more chipboard scrolls together! My one uses 2 scrolls, one of which I flipped over, to create my symetrical design - don't forget that you can cut them into sections too and then create your own designs . . . you're only limited by your imagination!

SHARON's TIP: I love the simplicity of these patterned papers, the fact that some are even printed in strips to cut out makes building pages really quick and easy!!
On this page I chose to layer some strips horizontally over a vertically striped pattern paper. To add detail I tore and curled the ends then added my photo with a mat. To complete my page I used my sewing machine and roughly sewed a couple of times around the photo.
Because my photo was of my husband and daughter watching a fireworks show, I chose to finish off my page by drawing in some firework-ish scrolls leading from the photo and into the background of the patterned paper. This added to the effect of the title and made me feel a whole lot better since I never actually got any photos of the fireworks themselves!!

SHIRLEY's TIP: Since making a couple of candle cards for a Design Team challenge a month or two ago, I've loved using up strips of pattern paper to make these cute candle cards.
The flame is just a piece of the pattern paper (or cardstock) which is handcut into a teardrop, and then I usually add a little bling BUT this time I chose to add some of the pearl drops that are included in this months CLUB Scrappit - too cute!

After taking an amazing online class with a very talented lady called Gloria Freose, plaster seems to be my new thing to add to my layouts! With my 'Big @ Love' and 'To The World' pages I have used it in very different ways to grunge up the papers and add an extra level of dimension to my pages.
SHARON's TIP: To create this effect I glued my photo to the centre of a patterned piece of paper then applied a generous amount of plaster filler all around the outside, making sure to thin the plaster out on the edges of the photo. Before it was dry I pressed a pair of the wooden scrolls into the plaster at each corner.
When the plaster was dry, I dry brushed various inks over the surface and tore away all the excess patterned paper around the side making sure to keep some of the patterned edges for effect.

SHIRLEY's TIP: Some simple hand-stitching is just perfect to dress up the pattern paper without the need for too much more! The only thing I added to these cards were some of the pearl drops (placed directly over the printed spots on the pattern paper) AND a 'Happy Birthday' sticker! So simple!

SHARON'S TIP: On this page I chose to apply a thin coat of the plaster roughly around the centre of the background card. I applied it with a flat spatula but a piece of card could have also been used. When dry, I added the photo (using a patterned paper photo mat) and all the embellishments. The scrolls also have a rough load of plaster on them which happened when I used them to impress in the Big @ love page.

SHIRLEY's TIP: I love whipping up little mini albums and I find these cute little wooden ones are just perfect for kids to have for themselves. Once I've attached my pattern paper using mod podge and sanded my edges, I then apply 2 generous coats of a clear spray lacquer (allowing the first coat to dry thoroughly before applying the 2nd).
Kids love having little albums about themselves to look through, but often they are easily damaged - using wooden mini albums is the perfect solution because they are so durable!

SHARON's HOW TO:
Step 1 - To begin with I chose scallop the edges of a piece of patterned paper. I used my cricut machine but the same effect could be created using a template.
Step 2 – Next I cut a piece of cardstock to approximately 8 inches wide then tore off the bottom and top to roughly make a square measuring 8 inches by 8 inches.
Step 3 – Attach this square to the centre of the patterned paper and attach both to the background cardstock.
Step 4 – I then chose to randomly sew a rough border on the scalloped paper using my sewing machine. Don’t fuss with trying to make the stiches neat lines as it looks better when the lines waver.
Step 5 – Attach the photo to one side of the centre card, I used a 7 x 5 inch photo which I also embellished with some of the rub-ons in the pack.
Step 6 – I stamped out a selection of different text boxes in different shapes then attached them along the side of the photo. I chose to use a small date box, a circle and a rectangle text box stamp . I then used only one for my journalling.
Step 7 - To finish I attached a Heidi Swapp alpha mask that I had grunged up with paint, a piece of ribbon and a flower.

SHARON's TIP: Within the pack there were some wonderful wooden tags that I decided to have a go at using in a very different way – actually the idea came to me at 3am and I just had to try to make them!!
I started by painting them then using polymer clay to create the white furry bits, the buttons and the belt. I of course only used 2 tags per card and chose to make a small scrap area on the centre piece to write a personal message on, my daughters are both dying to give these to their teachers for Christmas presents so this area will be perfect for them to write a message.
To finish, I bound my tag cards with the rings (I added an extra one from my own stash) and a strip of white lace tied to the ring.

SHARON's TIP: Well to be honest, I’m still going with the cards but this is one I managed to get finished!! I used a piece of patterned paper, one of the paper flowers with pearls stuck into the centre section and some of the rub-ons to make a friend card.
