SHARON's TIP:  For my page I decided to cut out the detail from the patterned paper and add it along the sides of my background, with the waste paper I then hand cut circles which I scrunched and distressed with sandpaper before machine sewing them to my page.  This meant I could maximise my usage of the patterned paper piece while still making my layout feel unique.

SHIRLEY's TIP:  I decided to combine two pattern papers together on my 'Beauty' page, leaving the black & white floral section to stand alone.  The top two flowers were hand sewn around the edges with black embroidery thread (not that you would realise it from the scan & photo) AND so that they complimented the pink pattern paper on the other side, I decided to colour the centre sections of the flowers with a pink pencil too!  I also chose to emphasise and compliment the black flowers by adding a black title (with a little added bling) and a black photo mat - pink and black compliment one another so perfectly don't they!

SHARON's TIP:  I loved both the green patterned paper and the black and white poppy print paper but wanted to combine them for colour.  My solution was to create a simple colour block that I then tore on one side to reveal the poppies.  To add extra detail I then tore a scalloped edge along the remaining sides and machine sewed it to the page.

Why not try my sketch of the above page too?

SHIRLEY's TIP:  Whilst this page might appear that I've done a lot to it, I really haven't!  To start with, I triple matted the photo - first with a yellow cardstock, then with the spotted pattern paper and then with the orange cardstock.  I then placed the matted photo exactly where I wanted it on the page and carefully drew around the outside of it with a grey lead pencil.  This told me which sections of the pattern paper flowers I should cut out so that they lay over the photo instead of disappearing under the photo!

To also add a little more dimension to the flowers that lay over the top of the photo, I've actually adhered them in place using some foam tape - it just adds a little lift to them!  Also - it's probably a little hard to see in the scanned image BUT the two large flowers in the top left & bottom right, have some of their blue dots emphasised with some blue mini sprinkles brads as well!  Again - it all adds to the visual dimension of the page!

SHARON's TIP:  One of the big questions I get asked quite often if why I chose to use the embellishments that I used.  The answer is simply to add extra depth and meaning to the story I want to share.  Take for example the page titled “Lucky”.  I chose to use of the bingo boards because I wanted to use the word to begin with as my title but also because the card was big enough to nearly matt my photo.  I then added the journaling cards to the side of the layout to balance the bingo card and the Warning rub-on to further tell my story.  Finally I added a chipboard bracket and a spanner charm to highlight the rub-on. The last element I added was the chipboard flower to the lower left corner over the white section as I wanted to hide my journaling and not add it here.

SHIRLEY's TIP: I just loved this piece of pattern paper when I first saw it and thought instantly of adding more dimension to the scrolls & vines with the additon of some flowers.  I painted the Collections chipboard flower in the same pink colour as my nieces shirt BUT also added some of the hot pink colour to the flower centre so that it complimented the printed heart on the pattern paper itself.

I generally like to use similar colours that are either found in the pattern paper OR that are present in my photo/s - hence me choosing hot pink, pale pink, white and green.  By doing this you will always end up with a creation that is visually very pleasing to the eye as ot compliments the photo/s perfectly!

SHARON'S TIP:  I love the imagery of Urban Lily papers.  They are so rich with patterns that you can either cut out and use or leave them as is.  For “Real Love” I kept the pattern paper whole and added my photos and journaling around the pattern.  To personalise the paper I then added some of the mini brads to some of the dots on the heart and drew dots with my pen in the others.

SHIRLEY's TIP:  Here's a unique style of invitation card - one in the shape of a little handbag!  The top lifts up and the bottom folds down to reveal the full details of the invite!  I simply cut the handbag template from the green Bazzill, scored it and folded it.  I then cut pieces of pattern paper to size to decorate the outside of the invite.

By being careful of where you place the template on the pattern paper before cutting, you can ensure that the desired sections of it are featured where you want, or in my case, that the design is relatively central!

SHARON's TIP:  When I first saw the paper that I used for “Sarah and the Dragon” I loved it but I wasn’t sure what I would do with it.  In the end I chose to cut out the centre white paper and re-attach everything to the white bazzill card.  I did this to add some dimension to the scroll and flower design.  To finish off, I added kindy glitz to certain elements of the pattern and clear micro beads to the centres of the flowers.  I then chose to journal through the centre section.

SHARON's TIP:  For this page I chose to use this particular piece of patterned paper simply because the curved lined at the bottom reminded me of sheet music waiting to be written on.   Since the photo I wanted to use was from a school performance I felt this was perfect.  To enhance ethe theme I also added bits of a music rub-on to the journaling square before adding the chipboard title letters.  To finish off the page I added the flowers to the bottom right corner of the photo to balance the title block

SHIRLEY's TIP:  Whilst 100% not made using the CLUB Scrappit products, I couldn't resist using one of the Urban Lily Secret Keeper Cards for the background of this creative project!  I had attended Paperific and was quite inspired by the 'Collections' stand and couldn't wait to try making my own little street of houses.

The Secret Keeper Card opens up to reveal my 'Home Sweet Home' message.   As you can see, each little house features a collection of lots of bits & pieces as well as ink, paint and metallic rubons.  Definitely lots of fun to play around with and the best thing is that each little house is so very unique!

SHARON's PROJECT HOW TO:  I chose to use the whole set including the box to create a set of recipe cards for my family.  To begin with I covered the box with a piece of patterned paper.  I cut 2 strips approximately 4 ½ inches wide by 12 inches long.  I glued the first to the inside of the lid and wrapped it around the box to the front.  I then pulled out the inner lip of the box and glued in the beginning of the second strip to wrap around the front.  To finish off, I tore off the extra patterned paper and added a strip of red card before gluing everything down and putting the inner lip back into the box to secure the lid again.

To decorate the message cards I cut a piece of patterned paper into squares that fit on each side of the secret keeper.  (remember you need to have 4 squares per secret keeper).  Glue each down then neaten edges with sandpaper.  On the inside of each secret keeper I chose to glue in a photo of the food.  Each photo was lightened and a title added with photoshop.  Finally I cut the card into small squares for the front of each recipe card.  Altogether there were 2 per side of each secret keeper.  Each secret keeper is designed so it can hold 2 different recipes – one per side.
