Are you someone who is keen on using computer fonts in your scrapbooking?

Why not try some of these fantastic fonts that Scrappit & the Scrappit Design Team girls have found.  This section of the website will be expanded in the coming months so make sure you check back regularly for new files to download!

Firstly, find the font you like and click on it.  This will bring up a download box and from there you will have two options - to 'Open' the file or to 'Save' the file.  Choose the 'Save' option so that the selected font can be downloaded to your computer.

Now you have two choices about where you can actually save the file:

To make the installation permanent on your system, you can save the selected file into c: /windows/fonts .  By doing it this way, when you open Word (or any other program on your computer) the font will automatically be in your font list ready to use – remember though, the more fonts you save to your hard drive and directly into the Windows Font folder, the slower your computer may run as each program will load all fonts each time you open them - something that might not be practicle for a font you use only once or twice.

The second option (which is what I recommend) is to create a 'My Fonts' folder in 'My Documents' and save all your downloaded fonts into this.  When you want to use one of them, you can simply open the individual font by double-clicking your mouse on it and it will then open into its own window.  Minimise this window to the task bar and now go ahead and open Word (or your selected program) and the font ‘should’ be available to use whilst you keep the font in the taskbar.  This is the best option if you only want to use a particular font once or very occasionally.  You might even like to print off samples of your fonts and keep these in a folder for easy reference as well!

There is a great program that is available for free download that many people recommend too called the 'Font Thing' which can help you manage & use all the fonts that you might have on your computer.  It allows you to not only view how your text may look in various fonts BUT it will install & uninstall them when you require them.

Whichever way you go, I'm sure once you start using a variety of fonts in your scrapbooking & cardmaking, you'll find it very hard to stop!  ENJOY!
